You may have heard “smart ovens”, “smart dishwashers” or “smart fridges” being mentioned in passing in recent times, and you would be forgiven in not knowing why “smart” is being put in front of the names of all your appliances!
Read on where we fill you in on what “smart” really means and with a particular focus on “smart ovens”.
What is a Smart Appliance?
In a few words, a “smart” appliance is one in which the appliance is connected to a system which can be programmed remotely and with the ability to operate independently without human input. As well as connecting to the internet, they might have certain sensors in them to detect different things such as temperature, weight, time, or light levels. Put simply, their technology aims to make your life easier.
What do Smart Ovens do?
To give you an idea of what a smart oven can do, we’ve listed out some of the most popular features that smart ovens have:
Switch oven off and on remotely meaning you can turn the oven on to pre-heat when you’re on your way home from work.
Adjust the temperature of your oven remotely
Connect to systems such as your “alexa” so you can use voice control to change settings on your oven.
Get notification reminders sent to your phone so you can be reminded when to take something out or add an ingredient.
Send recipes to the oven so they can automatically set temperatures and timings.
Internal cameras set up in your oven so you can see the progress of the cooking process.
Set up heating your oven to cook things at different temperatures in the oven.
